Welcome To

Zion United Methodist Church

Welcome to Zion! We're so happy you found us! Allow us to introduce ourselves... You see at Zion, we're potlucks and mission trips to Africa. We're old Germans, and new-to-the-neighborhood. We're horse-drawn buggy rides and online networked. We're organ-swelled hymns, and acoustic praise. We're farmers to doctors, teachers to toddlers, and veterans to stay-at-home mamas. The people of Zion beautifully blend old country church comfort with relentless desire to progress with our faith and culture. Along that continuum, we love you wherever you are, and we hope you'll grow to love and care for us, as well. Because that's what this church thing is about. We're not meant to sit in silence on Sunday morning and not see or think about each other, again, until next week. If you're looking for solid ground to launch your faith questions, we offer you that place and space. At Zion, you'll find a group that knows not just your name, but learns your identity. As you grow with us, you'll slowly find Christ's love motivate you to the same concern. This love for each other energizes us to share His love with the world. That's why we're here.

Come. Be filled. Fill others.

Who We Are

Zion thrives as a small to medium size country church, situated three miles west of Gordonville, among the rolling hills and creek bottoms of rural Cape Girardeau County.  We embrace our rural heritage, but are always looking for fresh ways to connect with God and each other.  We're not a megachurch, but we are just fine with that.  We are neighbors and friends, and still find meaning in the rituals we've maintained.  We work hard to keep a living tradition, not a faith gone stale, and it shows in everything we do.
